Openwater Component 

Prerequisite

For students who completed their pool component and wish to proceed with the open water component, or applying for reassessment with instructor.

• This is for openwater uncertified students.
• Who are not certified to provide buddy safety for other freedivers.
• Instructor/Trainer supervision is needed for all dives.
• Students from other agencies who are unable to complete their openwater requirements can contact us.

9-1230PM - Diving Session 1 & 2
1230-130PM Washup 
130PM  Boat departs island

Passing Requirements 

Apnea Academy - Freediving Level 1 Course:

• 1m45s static breathold
• 30m Dynamic
• 20m Dynamic no fins
• 8m constant weight depth (max 20m)
  
• 5 meters Buddy Depth Rescue (Openwater Component)
  
  

AIDA2 - Freediving Level 1 Course

• 2 minutes Static Apnea Pool 
• 40 meters Dynamic with bi-fins Pool
• 12 meters Constant Weight Depth (Openwater Component)
• 5 meters Buddy Depth Rescue (Openwater Component) 

SSI - Freediving Level 1 Course

• 30 meters Dynamic with bi-fins Pool
• 15 meters Dynamic only arm stroke Pool
• 10 meters Constant Weight (CWT) Depth
• 10 meters Mask Removal / Arm-stroke ascent 
• 10m Buddy Depth Rescue 

Venue

Open Water Venue:  St John Island 
Meeting Place: Marina South Pier 31 Marina Coastal Drive 

Exact timing will be advised closer to open water date (If it's held on Saturday, the usual timing is 7am to 2pm)

Chartered boat will be arranged and equipment and gear provided for students taking their level 1 course or reassessment.
